Benjamin Dube - Biography, Real Name, Age and Career – Amapiano MP3 Download

Bonani Benjamin Dube is a 62-year-old well-known South African gospel music figure recognized for his powerful singing, songwriting, music production, and pastoral work. Often called Pastor Benjamin Dube, he serves as a mentor to young musicians in South Africa and beyond. He is the youngest son of the late Reverend Benjamin Dube Sr. and Mrs. Grace Dube, and he grew up in a deeply spiritual family environment where worship played a central role. Remarkably, Benjamin began playing the guitar at just nine years old.

In the early 1980s, Dube gained fame as a gospel recording artist, and he has since released multiple albums that achieved gold and platinum success in South Africa. Alongside his music career, he is also the lead pastor of High Praise Centre, located in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. As a gospel legend, his influence extends through both his musical and pastoral work, making him a significant figure in the South African gospel community.

Early Life

Benjamin Dube was born on January 23, 1962, in Johannesburg, South Africa, into a Christian family. He is the youngest of five siblings. His father was both an evangelist and a guitarist, and his mother sang in the Assemblies of God church led by the late Bishop Nicholas Bhengu. Growing up in a musical and spiritual household, Benjamin developed a strong love for music early on. By the age of nine, he was playing the guitar, and by eleven, he had also learned the drums and bass guitar.

Dube attended Daliwonga Secondary School. Sadly, his life took a tragic turn in 1976 when his father was murdered. This devastating event led the Dube family to tour the Netherlands, where they performed and shared their story. The family later released an album titled "Vader Vergeef," which translates to "Father Forgives," in memory of their father.

Career

Benjamin Dube began his ministry and solo music career in 1986 with the release of the popular song "High Spirit." Over the years, he released over a dozen successful gospel albums, solidifying his role as a prominent figure in South African gospel music. In 1994, he founded High Praise Center, a non-profit organization located in Boksburg, Johannesburg. The church, which now has over 2,000 members, aims to support the spiritual growth of people of all ages.

Dube’s career took a significant turn when he met the well-known musician Chicco Twala. Their collaboration on the song "Holy Spirit" became a household favorite across South Africa. This partnership, along with a performance featuring The Youth Choir and produced by Twala, elevated Dube’s musical reputation and set him on the path to national fame.

In 1988, Dube collaborated with Lucky Dube on the song "Ebenezer." This opportunity led him to tour with renowned gospel artist James Cleveland across South Africa. His career then expanded internationally, allowing him to perform in the United States alongside respected gospel figures like Andre Crouch.

After the tragic loss of their father in 1976, the Dube family toured the Netherlands, where they shared their story and performed songs in memory of their father. They released an album titled "Vader Vergeef," meaning "Father Forgives," which reflected their journey of healing and remembrance.

In 2001, Dube’s talent caught the attention of Harmony Records in New York, leading to a contract with Epic Records. His first live album, "I Feel Like Going On," was released under this label and achieved platinum status in South Africa. Alongside his music, Dube founded his own label, Dube Connection cc, which is associated with SonyBMG and Spirit Music.

Beyond his music, Dube is an inspirational speaker. He notably spoke at the Freedom of the City award ceremony for President Nelson Mandela, where he shared his message of hope. In 2009, he co-founded Artist Hope Arise (AHA) and God’s Worshipers Convocation (GWC) to create spaces for artists and worshippers to connect and express their faith.
