Before the Amapiano Movement became a continental rave as it is now, it was a small movement that started in the Kasi's and clubs of Pretoria. The instrumental piano fused sounds that birthed the global rave we now have owes it's roots to the ingenious grassroots producers of our music industry. This song by Calvin Fallo, The Rain was released way back in 2016 long before Amapiano made it's first 1 million streams.
When you hit the play button and listen you can immediately appreciate the roots of the genre, and the development it has undergone to get to where it currently is. Before vocals were infused into Amapiano, it was mainly instrumental based with shakers, drum loops and piano melodies. Logs were not necessarily present at the time and it was not until later that the Log drums became the defining feature of an Amapiano production. The log drums distinguishes Amapiano from traditional house music.
