Dj Maphorisa Arrested For Assaulting Thuli Phongolo

Amapiano producer and hitmaker, Dj Maphorisa has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and former Generations actor Thuli Phongolo in the early hours of Sunday morning. He spent the night at the Sandton police station and will appear at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Monday, over a case of Gender Based Violence (GBV). The ugly incident occurred after Phongolo confronted Maphorisa about an argument they had started at the gig where they both attended. Things quickly spiraled out of control which led to DJ Maphorisa assaulting the female deejay and actress, Thuli Phongolo “He held me, took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” the former Generations: The Legacy’s actress revealed.

Thuli’s manager says to Sunday World, “We are still trying to gather how she is doing. I am seeing her in the next hour … We just need to actually figure out what is happening … She was with her road manager" In response, Phongolo reached out to the police which led to the arrest of the piano lord. The two have been reportedly dating for almost two years.

DJ Maphorisa is currently being kept at the Sandton Police Station and will appear in Randburg Magistrate court Tomorrow

A source close to the case revealed that the Amapiano star tried getting bail but was refused.

“He is facing a serious charge of assault GBV and he can only get bail in court for that, so he has to stay behind bars overnight before he can get bail,” said the source. According to multiple sources, the couple have been going through some relationship challenges as a result of infidelity by either of them.
