What DJ Maphorisa Taught Me About Music – Kabza De Small Opens Up

The self-acclaimed Amapiano king, Kabza De Small has opened up on what he learned from music producer, DJ Maphorisa.

In a recent interview Kabza had with the media team, he stated that Maphorisa taught him all he needed to know about music ownership. He went further to state that Maphorisa showed him the value and how important it is to own your music.

The problem facing most of the musicians across different countries is the fact that they lack the technicalities of music ownership and a few of them have come to the internet to lament, however, in Maphorisa’s case, he enjoys bragging about owning his masters.

Maphorisa recently mentioned in an interview that he’s seen the value in owning the right to his music. His words are stated below:

“For me, it’s important to own what I created, it obviously comes with a lot of work because you don’t have “big machine” support. But it’s worth it in the long run,” he explained.

Kabeza further revealed that he owns all the music he has released and doesn’t have any regret about that. He also revealed that he picked some lessons from the Maphorisa as he claimed that he learned music ownership from him.

His statement reads:

“I was actually taught by Maphorisa, he showed me the value and how important it is — all the music I’ve released I’ve owned, and I don’t regret it. I’ve come to learn you can work with majors in various ways and still win your music rights. It has worked for us,”
